Letters received, 1919-1943.

The collection is organized in alphabetical order by correspondent and includes: six letters from Johannes Baader, 1931-1932, (with copies of Hauptmann's responses to four of the letters) document various unsuccessful attempts by Baader to establish contact with the poet Gerhart Hauptmann, Ivo's father. Of special interest are two letters, 1931 April 1 and 1931 May 2, in which Baader elaborates on the utopian ideas of his "Welt-Gericht" and gives a detailed description and explanation of a Dada object entitled "Die Wahrheit" (folder 1).
